Gary Thompson has a broad spectrum of engineering knowledge, but he excels in design, manufacture and tooling. After he completed his toolmaking apprenticeship he left the region to widen his outlook and over the next 4 years worked in over 72 countries for major organisations.
In 2000, Gary became Group Engineer at Ford Components, during that time he started his Master’s Degree at Northumbria University which he completed through part time studies. In 2002, Gary moved from student to employee of Northumbria when he took on a role as Business Development Manager for the School of Engineering.
In mid-2004; C2M was created which became under his full management at the beginning of 2005 when Gary left the University. In 2009, Gary received the ‘Innovation Champion Award’ from One North East. In 2011, his company was awarded over €773,000 to develop a new innovative material from waste from the EU Eco Innovation Fund, however due to a change in EU regulations this forced C2M to close after 11 years.
Gary has now set up Jagdesign to support innovation across the region and further afield. Gary is already supporting innovators who will now manufacture their new innovations here in the North East using UK manufacturers in the supply chain.
